According to a bulletin Andrew posted today on the Honor Society blog:
So, if you saw Honor Society play in Mexico City last week, you may have noticed a heavy-duty metal brace on the middle finger of my right hand. If you weren't in Mexico City, then you may not know this at all...but...
I BROKE MY FINGER!!!
And when I say that I broke my finger, I really mean that broke it AND dislocated it in 2 places. Here's the full story...
We (me, Alexander, Michael and Jason) were playing flag football with some friends...sounds innocent enough, right? Well...it got gnarly :) Early in the game, my team scored a touchdown and we kicked the ball off to the opposing team. During the kick return, I hunted down the receiver and he started running at me full speed...I was determined to take his flag.
As he approached me, I reached out my right hand to take his flag, but instead of grabbing the flag, I got a hand full of his t-shirt. Before I knew it, he ran past me, but my fingers were still caught in his t-shirt...and then I felt a quick, sharp, intense pain.
Honestly, I expected to just shake it off and keep playing, but when I looked at my right hand, I nearly passed out. My middle finger was twisted and deformed...it didn't even look like a finger. It was gross...really really gross.
Michael ran up to me right after it happened and he helped me over to the sideline where a few young spectators screamed at the sight of my finger (it was really REALLY gross). When I got to the sideline, I knew what I had to do...I had to re-set my finger before my adrenaline stopped pumping or else I'd be in even more pain. So I grabbed my finger with my left hand, pulled, twisted and bent my finger back into position.
It was awesome :)
I went to the hospital the next day and they confirmed that the finger was broken. And tomorrow, I have to go see a hand and finger specialist to find out if my finger needs any additional work...I'm hoping it doesn't!
The good news is, I can still play the bass...I can still sing...and I can still play keyboards. I've gotten pretty good about making use of my other fingers to cover for my broken one.
The bad news is, it looks like I'm flipping people off all the time! hahaha
Sorry for the long bulletin...I just wanted to share the story with you all.
Got any good injury stories??? I wanna hear them :)

We hope you get well soon!!!
