Chapter 1, Part 1:

I slid into my usual seat at the usual table. As usual, I was the first one there. I pulled out my sidekick under the table and flipped it open, typing a quick text to Kelly to see where she was.
‘Sorry, class let out late. AL & I will be there in 3!’ was her reply.
She & Andrew had 4^th period together so they always came at the same time. Just like Mike & Jason had 4^th together.
Speak of the devils…
“Hey Allison!” Jason said, taking his normal seat across from me. I flashed him a grin and then turned to Mike.
“Where’s Alex?” I asked.
“Probably flirting with some girl, you know he’s always the last one here.”
“True.” I said with a laugh as Kelly & Andrew walked up. Kelly sat down on my left (Mike was on my right) and Andrew sat across from Mike.
“So you’re coming tonight right?” Andrew asked, looking at me & Kelly.
“Duh.” We replied.
Mike put his arm around my shoulders.
“Good! Cause you know it isn’t the same without you two!”
I rolled my eyes & Mike took his arm back so he could dig in on his pizza. Alexander came walking up and plopped himself down across from Kelly.
“Miss me?” he asked.
“Not really. It’s kinda peaceful without you.” I replied with a laugh.
“Oooohhh!” all the other guys laughed.
“Burn!” Kelly said holding her hand up for a high five. I slapped my hand on hers with a grin. Alex was pouting across the table but stopped when I shot him a wink.
“You know I’m kidding Alex.” I said.
“I know. You just love me that much right?”
“Exactly!” I replied. Lunch continued on in this same manner, much like it did every day.
The bell rang & we all said quick goodbyes before racing to our next periods.

*At the end of the day*
“Hey Allison!” Kelly yelled from behind me as I walked to my locker. I turned to face her with a grin.
“Hey what’s up?” I asked as she walked up to me and we fell into step together.
“You want to get ready together?” She asked.
“Yeah, sure. Do you want to go home & get your clothes for tonight & then come over?”
“That sounds great. I’ll meet you at your place in a little while.” She said. We reached a split in the hallway, she turned left to head to the parking lot and I turned right to go to my locker. I had a ton of homework for the weekend and I was none too excited about any of it.
Tonight was my only opportunity to go out and since the guys were playing at a local bar it made it that much better.
As I unlocked my car, my sidekick started going off in my pocket, signaling a new text. I pulled it out and quickly read the message from Kelly.
‘Red pants or black?’
‘Idk. I think I’m wearing my purple jeans.” I typed back before closing my phone & putting my car in drive.
Once I arrived home I said a quick hello to my mom & told her the plans for the night before heading up to my room.
My phone began to ring in my pocket again & it was Alex calling me.
“What’s up Noyes?” I asked.
“Hey can you do me a favor?”
“Depends what it is…”
“I asked Kristy to come tonight but she won’t know anyone, can you hang with her?”
“Ugh Alex you know I hate your girl toys.”
“Shut up! She’s really sweet.” Alex said.
“Whatever Alexander. I’ll hang out with your Barbie.”
“Thanks! Just meet us there a little early. I love you sis, you rock!”
“Yeah yeah yeah… I love you too bro.” I said and hung up the phone. Just then, Kelly knocked on my back door before walking in, saying hi to my mom, and then running up to my room.
We spent the next hour getting ready…straightening our hair, putting on makeup, and playing around with accessories. And of course, having girl talk… what else would 18 year old girls do?
“So Alex wants me to babysit his latest skank tonight.” I said as I walked into my closet for shoes.
“Ugh you aren’t gonna do it are you?” Kelly asked.
“I told him I would. He wants us to meet them there a little early so he can introduce her to us. Apparently her name is Kristy and she’s in college. That’s about all he ever tells me…”
“Gayyyy. How much you wanna bet she looks just like the last one? Blonde, blue eyes, big boobs…”
“I wouldn’t bother betting against that cause I know I’ll lose.” I said.
“Whatever. Are you almost ready?” Kelly asked.
“Yeah how do I look?” I asked. I was wearing black & green converse, purple jeans, a green t-shirt with black hearts on it, and a black messenger cap. I had straightened my hair and put on some cute/funky makeup.
“You look awesome.” Kelly replied. “What about me?” she asked, standing up from my bed where she had been perched.
Kelly was wearing red pants, a grey t-shirt with a black vest over it and some black converse. She had straightened her hair too and I had put some simple make-up on her.
“Amazing!” I replied and she grinned.
“Okay let’s go…” she said.
“Whoa girl, slow your roll.” I said with a laugh. “I gotta get some batteries for my camera.”
“Slow your roll? Oh god you’ve been hanging out with Alex too much…” Kelly said and I laughed again.

Chapter 1, Part 2:

We walked downstairs and I grabbed my purse and stuff before we said goodbye to my mom and headed downtown to the bar. The place was a normal weekend haunt for our crew so we walked in without a problem, put our purses behind the bear with our friend Sam the bartender and started up a tab on food and drinks. We ordered some chicken fingers and mixed drinks to start with. I was only having one drink tonight though cause I was driving.
We headed to our usual table and found the guys already there. I sat down on Andrew’s lap and took a sip of my drink before looking over at Alex’s new girl. Kelly had been right, she was just like all the rest.
“So what’s up?” Kelly asked squishing in next to Mike in the booth.
“Why are you in my lap?” Andrew asked.
“It’s comfy.” I replied.
“Your butt is bony and there is space next to Jason.”
“Fine.” I pouted and the guys laughed.
“So Kelly and Allison, this is Kristy.” Alex said. Kelly and I nodded in her direction and then gave each other a look.
Our chicken fingers arrived and we all dug in except for Kristy, I don’t think she ever ate cause she was stick thin.
Mike set his beer bottle down and grinned over at me.
“I’m gonna go get a pop, anyone else want anything?” I asked standing up on the seat and hopping over Andrew to get out.
“Nope.” “I’m good.” & “No thanks.” were the general responses.
“I need another, I’ll just come with you.” Mike said and Kelly slid out so he could get out easier.
We walked to the far end of the bar, where none of our friends could see us, before he pulled me to him for a heart racing kiss. We had been sort of secretly dating for a few weeks now and we liked to sneak away and make out. I guess it made us feel rebellious but I never understood why we couldn’t just date and let our friends know.
We pulled apart and walked up to the bar to order. As we waited for Sam to get down to where we were, Mike wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and planted gentle kisses on my neck. I turned my head and our lips met then in a sweet kiss.
“A sprite for me and another one for him, okay Sam?” I said and Sam nodded before passing us the drinks. Mike and I walked back to the table as if nothing had happened.
“So you guys are on in a half hour?” Kelly asked.
“Yup.” Jason replied.
“Awesome.” I said smiling around at my friends. It was hard to believe we would be graduating in 3 months.

When it was time for the guys to go on, we moved up in front of the stage area to watch. Kelly was on my right and Kristy on my left.
“So how long have you known Alex?” I asked her.
“A couple weeks. He’s so awesome! I mean he’s hot and in a band, not to mention his parents are rich.” Kristy said like that made all the difference.
Kelly looked like she was ready to punch her but thankfully the guys came on stage then to introduce themselves.
“Hey we’re Honor Society and this is our song called ‘Heartache in the Suburbs’.” Mike said and they started into the song.

After their set we all chilled at our table for a while longer. Kristy was all over Alex and Kelly kept a drink in her hands at all times to avoid hitting her. After an hour or so Kelly was getting pretty tipsy and was about to lose it so I suggested she go to the bathroom while I paid our tab and then we could leave.
“I’ll walk you girls out to the car, it’s late and it’s not safe.” Mike said standing up with us.
Kelly headed for the bathroom and Mike pulled me through the crowd towards the front. His hands were on my waist the whole time I paid and he kissed me softly right before Kelly met up with us at the door.
When we got to the car, Kelly hugged Mike before walking to the passenger’s side and getting in.
Mike hugged me close and kissed me eagerly. I pulled back and smiled at him.
“Drive safe, text me when you’re home?” Mike said.
“Of course.” I replied kissing him again.
“Hey do you want to do something tomorrow?” he asked as I went to open my door.
“I’d love to.” I replied with a grin before I got in.
“That was a long hug.” Kelly said tiredly as I started up the car.
I let out a little laugh, if she only knew…
