Ch. 6
It was a Friday night and Madelyn had the next day off from work. Kellie and her decided to go to the beach the next day, but of course didn’t want to go alone…
“Hello?”
“Hey Alex, its Madelyn.”
“Hey Mads, what’s up?”
“What are you and the guys doing tomorrow?”
“Umm, nothing that I know of… hold on. Hey Guys!” Madelyn heard Alex yell. “Do we have anything going on tomorrow?”
“Hey so um we don’t have anything going on, why?”
“Want to go to the beach with Kellie and me? Jay and Andy can bring people if they want…”
“Ooo that sounds like fun. I’ll ask the guys but at least count me in!” Alex said.
“Ok, cool, Kellie and I are thinking of leaving by eight to get to the beach early, so we can come get you guys before we leave.”
“Sounds good, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Ok, bye.”
Madelyn sighed an excited sigh. She was excited for tomorrow and now had to make sure she looked cute for tomorrow. She was also excited because she had been spending a lot of time with Alex lately and missed that he wasn’t around today.
Because Alex and Madelyn weren’t dating or anything yet (they had been hanging out but had only been on one official date) Madelyn decided on a fun and flirty bikini. She decided on a hot pink and purple bikini that was accented with little bows on her waist and one on the top.
Although it was the night before, Madelyn couldn’t wait for the beach the next day.
“Come on guys let’s go!” She heard Alex yell behind the door. “The girls will be here any minute!” Alex complained.
“Oh relax dude, just because you want to impress Maddie doesn’t mean you need to take it out on us.” Michael joked. Both Madelyn and Kellie rolled their eyes and decided to wait before knocking on the door.
“I’m not taking it out, but gentlemen are never late.” Alex reasoned.
“Dude, whatever, you totally just want to impress her.” Andy teased.
“Yeah well what about Aisling?” Alex asked.
“Don’t need to impress her much; we’ve been dating for a few months now.”
“It’s totally different when you have a girlfriend.” Jay agreed.
Kellie and Madelyn were leaning their ears up against the door trying to hear what the guys would say next.
“Um hi?” Someone said behind them causing them to jump.
“Any reason why you girls going inside?” The other girl asked them.
“Because the guys were talking about us.” Madelyn whispered.
“So you must be Kellie and Madelyn, the guys never stop talking about you girls. By the way, I’m Chrystal, I’m with Jay.”
“Hey it’s nice to meet you.” Both girls said.
“And I’m Aisling, Andy’s girlfriend.”
“It’s nice to meet you both too. I’m Madelyn and this is Kellie.”
“Hey! Who used my hair product?!” Mike yelled causing the girls to laugh. All four guys stopped dead in their tracks.
“Please don’t tell me they’re outside.” Michael groaned.
“Mornin' boys!” All four girls called through the door. It was silent for a few minutes before they heard crashes and grunts and people running into the door. It was opened a moment later by both Mike and Alex fighting over who was opening it. Jay and Andy sat back laughing along with Chrystal and Aisling while Madelyn coc.ked her head to the side and Kellie lifted one eyebrow.
“Umm hi?” They said.
“Hey.” Both Mike and Alex said trying to sound smooth and act cool.
“So who’s ready for the beach?” Madelyn asked trying to smooth everything out.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Chrystal and Aisling said as they made their way to the cars with everyone following behind.
“Ok so I can fit five in my car, well four not including me.” As she turned around she saw everyone piled by Aisling’s van except Alex. Both looked extremely uncomfortable.
“Looks like it’s just you and me…” Alex said uneasily.
“You ready?” Madelyn asked as she got in.
Alex usually liked being in control but in the thirty minute ride to the public beach he realized that he thought when girls drove it was completely and utterly sexy… except her shorts, t-shirt, and hair in a messy bun wasn’t exactly sexy to Alex.
“I’m so excited to go to the beach. I miss it so much.” There was something else that Alex found out about Madelyn, she liked the beach.
“I like the beach too.”
The two went back and forth talking about different things until they got to the beach. They both unloaded Madelyn’s car which had a beach blanket, lunches, and beach chairs in there.
They actually made a pretty good team. They set up the blanket and chairs together pretty quickly before anyone else got there. Madelyn ran back to her car and got the cooler for everyone along with her beach bag. When she got back to the beach she put both things down before slowly taking off her t-shirt and shorts.
Alex was shocked. Since Alex and she had been getting to know each other the last week and going out on dates, he had always seen her fully clothed. As Madelyn slowly took off her clothes to leave a small but cute and flirty bikini behind, well Alex was sort of shell shocked. Madelyn turned around and found Alex with his jaw slightly open and staring at her. She decided to tease him a little. She walked over to him and lightly ran her hand down his bare chest. He visible shivered before she said, “Like what you see?” She was smirking at him and at that he closed his mouth and narrowed his eyes at her. He hated that she had so much power over him. Madelyn turned away and sauntered over to the blanket to lay out for a tan. As she was walking Kellie did a cat call from the parking lot making Madelyn laugh before lying down.
As Madelyn got comfy on the blanket and before everyone else was there, Alex took his opportunity to get Madelyn back. She was laying on her stomach with her knees bent and her feet in the air as she read a gossip magazine. Quietly Alex snuck up on her and quickly threw her over his shoulder.
“Alex!” She complained. “Alex put me down!” But Alex just kept running towards the ocean with her in his hands. As she realized where he was going Madelyn started to freak out more. “Alex! Ah don’t you dare! Put me down!” She yelled. She was causing a scene among their friends. They started laughing and staring as Alex just kept going no matter how much she hit or kicked. He ran through the waves with her and when there was finally a big one, he just dropped her into the ocean.
“Oh you’re dead!” She exclaimed when she resurfaced. Alex laughed as he started running away from her. She quickly started running after him and finally caught up tackling him to the ground in the water. He quickly turned over and started splashing Jessa, who laughed, screamed, and splashed back.
Finally Alex stood up and helped Madelyn up. As they were standing in the water get lost in each other’s eyes, Alex’s hand found Madelyn’s hip and the other cupped her face while she had her arms around his waist. She looked up at Alex and slowly they both started inching towards each other. Their first kiss was going to be in front of all their friends but as far as Alex and Madelyn were concerned, it was just the two of them. Their lips were millimeters apart and both their eyes were closed when a huge wave crashed on them knocking Madelyn over and preventing the kiss from happening.
Madelyn was sprawled on the sand thankful that she hadn’t lost any articles of clothing while getting tossed around by the wave.
“Are you ok?!” Alex asked as he ran over to him, but saw that she was laughing hysterically. “You better get up before another wave comes.” He said as he gently took her hands in his and pulled her up.
“Thanks.” She said as her laughter finally subsided.
“Your welcome.” He said as he leaned down and gave her a sweet chaste kiss on her lips. She smiled as she grabbed his hand and brought him back to the beach blanket where everyone else was now set up. She quickly found her towel and started drying off hoping to get warm. Alex followed suit and picked up his towel running it all over his body and through his hair making it go every which way before sitting down on a beach chair and pulling Madelyn down onto his lap.
Every couple was off doing their own thing and by lunch time everyone had gone in the ocean at least once, even Michael and his hair had gone in. Everyone sat down and ate lunch together (which were just sandwiches). After lunch Jay had taken out his guitar and was playing around. Some of the guys were singing along while Madelyn and Alex were just sitting down next to each other.
“Hey.” She said turning to him. He put his book down and looked over at her.
“Want to go for a walk?” She asked. He nodded, but his book away and stood up helping Madelyn stand up before they both started walking down the beach hand in hand.
“So are you having fun?” Madelyn asked as they started walking.
“Yeah, you getting hit by that wave was priceless.” Alex said as he started laughing. Madelyn quickly hit him in the chest. He grabbed her hand and brought it up to his lips giving it a quick kiss before intertwining their fingers.
“I was joking; yes I am having fun, are you?” He asked.
“Yeah I am. I love the beach, even when someone’s mean and throws me in the water.” Madelyn said as she playfully glared at Alex.
“Sorry sweetness.” He said with a laugh as he kissed her head.
They walked hand in hand until they reached some rocks where they decided to try to climb them. Once they were at the top they both sat down to continue to talk some more.
“Ok um I know that we haven’t known each other very long and I don’t even know if we’re dating or not let along exclusive, but umm I starting to really like you.” Madelyn said out of the blue. Alex broke out into a huge smile and slightly chuckled before leaving a lingering kiss on her cheek.
“You’re cute.” He said with a smile as he leaned his forehead on hers. “And I like you too.” He said.
“Ok good.” Madelyn said with a smile as she cupped his face and leaned in and kissed him. Alex kissed back and it was their first kiss other than the peck on the beach earlier. This one last a lot longer and if they were on a more comfortable surface, Madelyn and Alex are sure they would have kissed longer.
“There’s only one thing…”
Around a half hour after their walk started, Madelyn and Alex made their way back over to their friends and the blanket. Jason, Andrew, Aisling, and Chrystal were all in the water.
“Hey guys.” Kellie said as Alex went and sat in a beach chair and Madelyn walked over to the blanket.
“Hi.” Both Alex and Madelyn said back.
“So um Mike… wanna go on a walk?” Madelyn asked. Mike’s eyes popped out of his head.
“Oh um sure…”
